Materials:
- 3.25mm hook
- Worsted weight yarn - 100 yards red, 30 yards white, 40 yards skin tone, 30 yards brown- Suggested yarn: Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton in the colors Red, White, Brown, and Warm Blush
- 8mm safety eyes
- Blush
Size: Approximately 12 inches tall when made with the suggested yarn and hook size.
This is a unisex elf doll and can
be custom made for either gender.
Legs

R1: In red, 6 sc in magic ring (6)
R2: sc inc x6 (12)

R18: Stuff bottom half of leg,
then pinch closed and sc together x4 (sc over first if necessary so that the

Stuff and fasten off.
Body
R1: Holding the legs side by
side, pinch together and sc together x10 across the tops of both, closing the
tops of the legs and joining them together. (10)
Continue working in the round.
R2: Ch 1, working around in front and back loops of 10 sc in a circle, (sc
inc, 9 sc) x2 (22)
R3-19: 22 sc (22)
R20: 3 sc, sc dec, 9 sc, sc dec, 6 sc (20)
R21: (2 sc, sc dec) x5 (15)
Stuff and fasten off. You may choose to add some weight to
the bottom of the body to aid in sitting unsupported.
Make the collar:
Holding doll upside down, attach
white yarn to front loops of row 21 in the back.
R1: Ch 3 (does not count as a
stitch), dc inc x15, sl st join to first dc (30)
R2: Ch 1 (does not count as a
stitch) (sc,hdc) in same st, (dc, tc, dc) in next st, (hdc, sc) in next st.
[(sc, hdc) in next st, (dc, tc, dc) in next st, (hdc, sc) in next st)] x9. Sl
st join to first sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends. Stitch the collar down in a
couple of spots to prevent it from curling up.
Head
Hold doll right side up again, and
attach skin tone yarn to back loops of row 21 in the back.
R1-2: 15 sc (15)
R3: inc x15 (30)
R4-11: 30 sc (30)
R12: (4 sc, sc dec) x5 (25)
R13: (3 sc, sc dec) x5 (20)
Insert safety eyes between rows 8
& 9, 5 sts apart.

Stuff and fasten off. Close up head. Stitch a nose between
rows 6 & 7 and add blush to cheeks if desired.
Arms

R7: Change to red, (1 sc, sc dec)

R15: Stuff arm up to this point,

R23: Stuff top half of arm, then
pinch arm closed and sc together x4 (sc over first if necessary to line up with
the fold of the elbow (4)
Fasten off. Sew the arms to the body
on either side, one row under the collar.
Hair cap
Beginning ch 2 of each round does
not count as a stitch.
R1: Ch 2, 7 hdc in magic ring, sl
st join to first hdc (7)
R2: Ch 2, hdc inc x7, sl st join
to first hdc (14)
R3: Ch 2, (1 hdc, hdc inc) x7, sl
st join to first hdc (21)
R4: Ch 2, (2 hdc, hdc inc) x7, sl
st join to first hdc (28)
R5-9: Ch 2, 28 hdc, sl st join to
first hdc (28)
Fasten off with long tail. Weave yarn needle in and out the
first few rows, pull tight and wrap around twice to make hair part. Sew the
hair cap to the head.
**If you would like to make a female elf, you can add a ponytail or pigtails to the bottom of the hair cap.**
Ponytail:
Ch 15, starting in 2nd ch from hook, sc x 14, join to 1st ch, repeat 2 more times for a total of 3 hair strands. Sew as desired to the hair cap.
