Neona the Fairy


Neona the Fairy - free amigurumi crochet doll pattern.

    Materials
  •           Worsted weight yarn – Approximately 100 yards skin tone, 80 yards green, 70 yards purple, 70 yards light blue, scrap amount of pink. (I used Hobby Lobby I love this cotton in the colors Warm Blush, Bright Citrus, Amtheyst, Pale Denim & Rosey II.
  •           Suggested hook size: 3.25mm (D).
  •           2 x 11mm safety eyes (any color), or size of your choosing.
  •           Fiberfill stuffing
  •           Yarn needle
  •           Black & pink embroidery floss
  •           Blush
  •           14g floral wire (optional)


Stitch abbreviations 
Sc: single crochet
Hdc: half double crochet
Dc: double crochet
BOB4: 4 dc bobble
Inc: increase
Dec: decrease
Slst: slip stitch
Ch: chain
(): repeat same stitches
[]: stitches in same stitch
MR: magic ring

Special Stitches Used – 4 dc bobble stitch (BOB4)
Step 1: Yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over again & pull up loop, yarn over, draw back through 2 loops. (2 loops)
Step 2: Yarn over, insert hook into same st, yarn over again & pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops (3 loops)
Step 3: Yarn over, insert hook into same st, yarn over again & pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops (4 loops)
Step 4: Yarn over, insert hook into same st, yarn over again & pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops (5 loops) 
Step 5: Yarn over, draw yarn through all 5 loops on hook.

Size: 11” tall when made with the suggested yarn and hook size
Pattern is worked in continuous rounds unless noted otherwise.

Arms
Make 2 – in skin tone
R1: Sc x 5 in MR (5)
R2: Sc inc x 5 (10)
R3: Sc x 10 (10)
R4: Sc x 5, BOB4 (see special stitches), sc x 4 (10)
R5: (Sc dec x 1, sc x 3) x 2 (8)
R6-21: Sc x 8 (8)
Insert wire if you are using it, then stuff around the wire.
FO & set aside for crocheting into the body.

Legs
Make 2 – starting in green.
R1: In MR, sc x 6 (6)
R2: Sc inc x 6 (12)
R3: (Sc x 1, sc inc) x 6 (18)
R4: Sc x 18 (18) Change to skin tone.
R5: Sc x 3, sc dec x 6, sc x 3 (12)

R8-15: Sc x 10 (10)

Body & Head
Continue from the 2nd leg.
Stuff the body as you go.

If you are wiring your doll, twist the leg wires together to create one center wire.

Stitch a nose between rounds 30 & 31, and a mouth between rounds 28 & 29.

Skirt
Holding doll upside down, join green yarn to FLO of R5 of the body at the back of the doll.

Straps
Hold doll right side up again. Join green yarn to FLO of R16 of the body at the center back of the doll.
R1: Slst x 4, ch 8, sk 4 (under arm), slst x 8, ch 8, sk 4 (under arm), slst x 4, slst to 1st slst.
FO & weave in ends.

Hair cap
Make 1 – in purple.
R1: In MR, ch 1, hdc x 8, slst join to 1st hdc (8)
R2: Ch 1, hdc inc x 8, join to 1st hdc (16)
R3: Ch 1, (hdc x 1, hdc inc) x 8, join to 1st hdc (24)
R4: Ch 1, (hdc x 2, hdc inc) x 8, join to 1st hdc (32)

FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Sew to the head & weave in end.

Bun
Make 1 – starting in purple.
R1: In MR, ch 1, hdc x 8, slst join to 1st hdc (8)
R2: Ch 1, hdc inc x 8, join to 1st hdc (16)
R3: Ch 1, (hdc x 1, hdc inc) x 8, join to 1st hdc (24)
R4-6: Ch 1, hdc x 24, join to 1st hdc (24)
R7: Ch 1, (hdc x 1, hdc dec) x 8, join to 1st hdc (16)
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Stuff an sew to the head/hair cap. Weave in end.
Bow
Make 1 – in pink.
R1: In MR, (ch 3, dc x 3, ch 3, slst x 1) x 2.
FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Wrap the yarn tail tightly around the center of the bow 3-4 times. Sew to the bun. Weave in end.

Top wing
Make 2 – in light blue.
R1: In MR, sc x 6 (6)
R2: Sc inc x 6 (12)
R3: (Sc x 1, sc inc) x 6 (18)
R4: (Sc x 2, sc inc) x 6 (24)
R5: (Sc x 3, sc inc) x 6 (30)

FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave the end through to the other side on one of the wings, so that the right side of R10 is facing forward when sewn on to the body.

Bottom wing
Make 2 – in light blue.

FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Weave the end through to the other side on one of the wings, so that the right side of R6 is facing forward when sewn on to the body.

WING ASSEMBLY:
Sew bottom part of wing to top part of wing, with the bottom in front – see photo for assembly positioning. Once assembled sew to the back of your doll as shown.
